Song for Bob 03:33
Got all of his records at home in a stack I still think his best effort was "Blood on the Tracks" He made me a promise, I know it sounds strange But I guess I'm still waiting for the times to change The line it was drawn, the battle did rage But now the rebels drive Hummers and self medicate And sleep while the furniture gets re-arranged Guess I'm still waiting for the times to change Pour me a strong one, let it flow through my veins Got to get a little sideways before I see straight And I'll hum an old number the jukebox won't play Guess I'm still waiting for the times to change In one fiery moment the whole world was undone The tears that we shed ran together as one But the king thought it better to launch a crusade Guess I'm still waiting for the times to change Pour me a strong one, let it flow through my veins Got to get a little sideways before I see straight And I'll hum an old number the jukebox won't play Guess I'm still waiting for the times to change The waters did rise and the swimmin' commensed But the king in his row boat did not take offense To the cries of the weary just out of range I hear they're still waiting for the times to change Pour me a strong one, let it flow through my veins Got to get a little sideways before I see straight And I'll hum an old number the jukebox won't play Guess I'm still waiting for the times to change Got all of his records at home in a stack I still think his best effort was "Blood on the Tracks" He made me a promise, I know it sounds strange But I guess I'm still waiting for the times to change

Mona, Mona 03:22
Mona, Mona where are you tonight? You left us with this hole to fill Mona Mona we hardly knew you but still If you fly among the stars In the sky Mona I will be looking for you there Mona, Mona child of love and light Sister to the rolling hills Mona Mona the fire of life burned out but still I can see A face so clear like a dream Mona please don't let your light grow dim Weary traveler are you finally home what do your eyes behold? But still I can see a face so clear Like a dream Mona please don't let your light grow dim And still if you fly Among the stars in the sky Mona I will be looking for you there

Shattered glass, broken dreams Much too fast, in no time it seems Why do these things Come to pass? Shattered glass Shattered glass, broken heart Far too fast, torn apart when do we start to leave the past shattered glass As a rule, I try to avoid it But these blues come at last I build a wall but they always destroy it 'Till I'm sweeping up, shattered glass As a rule, I try to avoid it But these blues come at last I build a wall but they always destroy it 'Till I'm sweeping up, shattered glass Shattered glass, broken heart Far too fast, torn apart when do we start to leave the past shattered glass

My neighbors call me a liberal But I just want to live free They wave the flag and demand my allegiance And use fear to silence me I'm a blue state boy, just a little out of place Such a blue state boy living in a red state Then they ran off with Jesus While he was preaching to the poor They dress him up in their so called family values Then send his children off to war I'm a blue state boy just about to suffocate Such a blue state boy living in a red state It's a world out of kilter Where everything leans to the Right Where people say "These colors don't run" And all they see is black and white I'm a blue state boy, maybe I should emigrate Such a blue state boy living in a red state Above the hills in North Dakota And the fields in Oklahoma In the big sky of Montana Over apple pie in Indiana Upon the plains of Missouri And sunlit lanes in Tennessee In the arms of twilight overhead Flies the old red white and red Sometimes I dream of Illinois God help a blue state boy God help a blue state boy

Dear Mrs. Boxer how can I win your love You don't even know me, who am I? But you were on the TV, speaking truth to power Now I'm drowning in the ocean of your eyes Please say it's not too late Can I take you on a date? For some stimulating conversation In a hot tub by the lake Mrs. Boxer, oh yeah Mrs. Boxer, oh yeah Mrs. Boxer Dear Mrs. Boxer you thrill me to the bone Dancing 'round the ring with style and grace Floating like a butterfly, stinging like a bee You put that corporate fat cat in his place And hey its just a thought But I know a happening spot If you're free then I'll take you there For beer and jello shots Mrs. Boxer, oh yeah Mrs. Boxer, oh yeah Mrs. Boxer Mrs. Boxer, oh yeah Mrs. Boxer, oh yeah Mrs. Boxer

Back your truck up to the load my dear Rev the engine let 'em know you're here Wait for the flag make sure the track is clear Then give it all you've got Shelly's got the wheel, she can pull the weight Loves the way it feels, she won't hesitate 2000 horses tied to memory and fate Shelly's got the wheel She's on a mission gonna make some noise She's gonna show up all those country boys She lost her lover now her only joy Is driving his machine Shelly's got the wheel, she can pull the weight Loves the way it feels, she won't hesitate 2000 horses tied to memory and fate Shelly's got the wheel Chained to a ghost running on gasoline Going the distance now she's the truck pull queen Shelly's got the wheel, she can pull the weight Loves the way it feels, she won't hesitate 2000 horses tied to memory and fate Shelly's got the wheel Shelly's got the wheel Shelly's got the wheel

How can one man be so lucky? I stumbled in from the cold Hung my hat in that warm sanctuary Where she served up salvation for my soul She looked me up and down as I sat at the counter She said boy you ain't been eatin' right But once you get a taste of what I got cooking You won't believe your appetite And now I spend all my time in Cecillia's kitchen She's all I'm thinking of She sticks to my ribs like a slow cooked brisket And she butters my buiscits with love Turnip greens, creamy mashed potatoes Butter beans that melt right in your mouth I didn't know I was so hungry That is until Cecilia laid it down I spend all my time in Cecillia's kitchen That's where I'm sittin' now With a big slab of meatloaf, divine intervention Good God Almighty, holy cow

He's got tethers holding him back He tried but he never got that monkey off his back His star is slowly fading you can barely see it now All alone with a needle and a dream going down A dream going down, a crack in the wall Nobody hears the sound when an angel falls You might never even notice, then one day you turn around 'Cause something woke you up a dream going down She gazes in the mirror looking for someone A girl she remembers, a rose blooming in the sun She won't tell you she's unhappy with the way it all turned out But there's a tear on her cheek and dream going down A dream going down, a crack in the wall Nobody hears the sound when an angel falls You might never even notice, then one day you turn around 'Cause something woke you up a dream going down
9.
If I could write this song half as cool as Nick Lowe No way I could go wrong if I sang it to you slow But then again I'm clumsy, sometimes witless as a hack So I'll just say I love you and pray you say it back What's a dream without true devotion What's the sky without the blue What's a train with no locomotion What am I without you? If I could make you swoon just like Van Morrison I'd sing about the moon until you were undone If I can't leave you breathless then the best that I can do Is confess that I am nothing darling without you What's a dream without true devotion What's the sky without the blue What's a train with no locomotion What am I without you? If I could be John Prine, Rodney Crowell or Peter Case The truth in every line would shine with grit and grace But you know I can't do it, it would only be a sham You would see right through it, honey, you know who I am What's a dream without true devotion What's the sky without the blue What's a train with no locomotion What am I without you?

I play by the rules I stay on a narrow path I never lose my cool, don't wish for things I cannot have I've been good; I took my medicine, now everything is good Safe inside this fortress strong Then she comes around, the walls come down She got me crazy for it now Running through my veins, I go insane She got me crazy for it now Crazy for it now Don't ever start a fire you can't trust the reckless wind When you're walking on a wire balance is your only friend I've been good, I took my medicine now everything is good No more black, there's only gray Then she comes around, the sun comes out She got me crazy for it now Running through my veins, I go insane She got me crazy for it now Crazy for it now I've been good I took my medicine now everything is good Safe inside this fortress strong Then she comes around, the walls come down She got me crazy for it now Running through my veins, I go insane She got me crazy for it now Crazy for it now

She used to sit on his shoulder When he was young, he would hold her And they made love with pen and paper Who would have dreamed that he'd forsake her He lost his muse when she made him choose Between her beauty and a bottle of booze She left him cold like a blown out fuse Now he's all alone with the Nashville blues She was a gift taken for granted A vision pure now dull and slanted Sometimes he cries and tries to call her But every night his voice gets smaller He lost his muse when she made him choose Between her beauty and a bottle of booze She left him cold like a blown out fuse Now he's all alone with the Nashville blues He's haunted by the songs unwritten Prays for the words that come unbidden And a melody for the ages In a silent room full of empty pages He lost his muse when she made him choose Between her beauty and a bottle of booze She left him cold like a blown out fuse Now he's best known for the Nashville blues

I'm not as famous as Columbus or Ponce de Leon Never sailed with Henry Hudson, for heaven's sake Can't be compared to Verrazano, Cortez, or Coronado Nowhere near as handsome as Sir Francis Drake I didn't count on this/I never gave my consent I'll admit/ Hell I'm flattered but just the same Tell every map maker/ tell the president That Amerigo Vespucci is taking back his name Ask me why.......WHY 'Cause it used to stand for something Ask me why...........WHY It got lost along the way Tell every map maker, tell the president That Amerigo Vespucci is taking back his name

When love is lost in bitter strife When hatred burns and makes you blind You cannot see the harm you do The winds of change won't wait for you When reason drowns in foolish pride And you believe God's on your side You think you own the only truth The winds of change won't wait for you Sometimes a storm knocks down the walls The levies break and towers fall And when that storm comes blowin' through The winds of change won't wait for you When justice dies without a sound When fear and lies keep good men down Freedom will fade in silence too The winds of change won't wait for you Sometimes a storm knocks down the walls The levies break and towers fall And when that storm comes blowin' through The winds of change won't wait for you
